February 20th-26th

It's been a great week! Lots of rain and wind however. Did our "town run" into Honolulu Tuesday and Thursday. We had Monday off but worked the "nursery/farm"  Wednesday and Friday.  Having to wear a sweater or rain jacket at times. Volunteered at the PCC on Friday night. Saturday we did laundry, I gave Brent a hair cut, and cleaned our apartment really good! And I read a book. Still haven't caught the rat. ☹️ Saw him again yesterday in a drawer. 😬 We have three bait traps. He must be smart. 😵‍💫 Hopefully soon!  WE LOVE HAWAII & our Mission! God is so good to us! 🌴

Beautiful program on Wednesday evening over at BYUH!  ❤️
We have one of these in our apartment right now that we're trying to catch. Yikes! We had gone to an amazing Missionary devotional on Tuesday night and brought a couple of cookies home.  I put them in a plastic bag and set them on the counter. When I woke up in the morning, I said to Brent "where are those cookies"  and I looked down at the floor, and the bag was sticking halfway out from under the dishwasher. I pulled it out and have the cookies were gone. Dang rat!  I really really don't like rats!!!!
This is Cole, another great guys that is kind of another boss.
                                                       Beautified this area on Wednesday.
Lunch with our friends at Teddy's Burgers on Monday.
Such a fun day, but a rainy day! ☔
Our Hawaiian word of the day is Aloha.
Aloha means love, affection, peace, and compassion. It is commonly used as a simple greeting but it has a deeper cultural and spiritual significance. Aloha is a way of living and it entails treating each other with love and respect. It is the essence of relationships where each individual is important to every other person for collective existence.
To live with the spirit of aloha, strive to greet every day with kindness, compassion, and gratitude, and spreading the love to everyone around you.
Jennifer Miles. She is in the Ward we go to and we've become friends.
Sister Cheney. She so sweet. Her and her husband cooked dinner for us a couple of weeks ago.
Sister Peterson & Sister Jensen. Sister Peterson is going home soon. Such sweet Sisters!

February 13th-19th

Spent Saturday with these friends, Pearson's, Brooks, & Meikle's. We went to the Visitors Center in the morning and the rest of the day at the PCC.  We've known and loved them for about 44 be years. Raised our kids together in Sandy. ❤️
Four native carvers from Rapa Nui honored the PCC in 2003 by traveling here at the center to build these sacred Moai figures literally from the ground up?
These statues are handmade authentic replica of the ones found on the 64 square mile island of Rapa Nui also called as Easter Island.

In  Hawai’i, a weaving house is called Hale Ulana. This is where women created mats, baskets, fans, and other items from dried leaves of the pandanus tree woven delicately together.  Often times, children sat at the knee of the mother to learn basic weaving skills that would be used later in life.
In Samoa, cooking is man's domain. Because the preparing and cooking of food is considered hard work, men do most of the cooking.
Thought these were fun pictures! Surfing is a big deal here.
This is adorable Nia. She works with us everyday.
This is Josh, one of our bosses. He's so nice to come help us when he can!

We beautified a couple of areas over at Hale Aloha.

The Sister Missionaries in the sewing room made Valentine's cookie for all the departments at the PCC. SO YUMMY! ❤️

February 6th-12th

We weeded and planted a lot of plants in this area on Monday. It's so beautiful!                                                                         Hard at work!
After having dinner over at the"Marketplace" with our District, we went and watched this movie in                                  the Journey Theater at the PCC with a lot of missionaries and others.                                     We also had the gift of listening to the director of this film afterwords. It's was so good!

Five-time Olympic medalist Duke Paoa Kahanamoku shatters records and brings surfing to the world                                           while overcoming a lifetime of personal challenges.
We're heading into the Laie Temple doors this Saturday morning. Oh how we love the Temple! 💗
So we were just over at the beach this afternoon, and these people said Hi! and asked where we were from and I said Ivin's Utah and they said they are from Ivins Utah and lo and behold they're new and in our Ward. Small world! I got them discount tickets to the PCC cuz they said they were just heading there. So fun! 💗

January 30th-February 5th

        It's been a great week! ❤️
This is the gift we were given.
Devotional today over at the island of Hawaii at the PCC. These are pictures a couple of different groups doing Hawaiian dancing. They gave all the missionaries a handmade gift and a treat! So nice! The power went out at one point though, dang! Very rainy right now.
Received our finished "Storyworth" book this week.
The subscription for this book was given to us as a Christmas gift in December of 2021, and we answered questions every week  in 2022 and then it was compiled into this book. 💗
Took a screenshot of the article that was written about our nursery/farm in our monthly newsletter.

We went to the"Fire knife competition" last night very fun. This guy was the winner.
We also planted plants in a couple of these planter boxes out front of the Korean barbecue                                                               truck and worked in other areas too.

This area was mostly weeds. We weeded and then planted all these plants. Looks beautiful!
This place is so beautiful. Lots of rain this week. 🌧️
We just had a cool experience today/Monday. President Grace, our PCC leader, invited all employees
Volunteers, and missionaries to the Hawaiian Journey Theater for a special message. When all were seated, he announced a brief video would be shown on the screen. The video started, and there sat President Russell M. Nelson. He smiled and gave us a two minute "Thank You" for our marvelous efforts at the PCC! What a thrill! A simple message, but a huge lift. And then we watched the video again. We love him!
All of us in front of the Temple.
